Barbara’s artworks were for us a true discovery.

Beautiful and much more: poetic, nostalgic, playful and sad, with such intelligent irony that they merited a much longer contemplation than the time we disposed of. The riches of her smallest details that speak volumes, , , This treat directly brought us to the incredible world of STEINBERG, with whom she shares so many affinities.

Between Barbara and Steinberg there is no passport control. The stamps become planets. I cannot imagine anybody describing America in a more poignant way. America and the human condition overwhelmed by a bricolage of cultures or the lack of them. Some of his incredible morons seem to be eternally returning from a January 6th. His umbilical cord with the New Yorker — implanted in peoples minds — hides the tragic dimension of his great art. His place among the great ones of his century is assured!

The images of the art were crisp and beautiful, and the rest of the production values were well done, so although we would have preferred to see the prints and the boxes on the gallery walls and to join you in person, it was a good way to learn about the work. I particularly admired the little animation of how Babs’ tall man box came together. This was an excellent artist talk for the Covid era.

We found the discussions of each one’s work very informative and enlightening: Cary’s stories about the individuals he photographed and Babs’ stories of choosing pieces then adding them intuitively to develop or complete a composition. The discussion of how you each contributed to one another’s work added the sugar to the presentation. I am so sorry not to be able to see the exhibit in person.

Really nice work, and a great show. I love the surprising decisions you make about which objects will share a space, and how it always seems so right. Good dangerous sense of humor as well.
Yours and Cary’s work go together in ways I couldn’t have imagined. His work changes the way I look at yours, and vice versa.
